CDL Training

Classic Driving School offers training starting at a minimum of 4 hours of training. All training is with a state licensed CDL trainer. At the end of every training session, the student will be informed of his/her strengths and weaknesses, and additional training may be scheduled if needed. The training is offered in four different vehicles for Class A and two different vehicles for Class B. The Class A vehicles available are a manual transmission day cab with a 24' flatbed trailer, a manual transmission day cab with a 48' van trailer, and an automatic transmission straight truck with a 24' flatbed trailer. All combination vehicles are rated over 26001 lbs. The Class B vehicle available is an automatic straight truck, as well as a manual transmission straight truck, both rated over 26001 lbs. All vehicles are equipped with air brakes.

 

*To use our rental trucks, you CANNOT have an air brake restriction!

Classic Driving School offers different programs to best suite your needs. Below are the costs and requirements for each program. Please call the office to enroll. (Funding available through Michigan Works! and TARFF loan.

 

½ Day Course (intended for experienced drivers)

This course includes 4 hours of Behind-The-Wheel training. This course will sharpen your ability to perform the pre-trip, the skills, and on-the-road portions of the test.

 

One Day Course (intended for those with moderate experience)

This course includes 8 hours of Behind-The-Wheel training. This course is broken up into two 4-hour blocks.

 

Basic Program (intended for those with little-no experience)

This program includes one week (20 hours) of Behind-The-Wheel training. This program is broken up into five 4-hour blocks and includes one road test.

 

Transitional Program (intended for those with no experience)

This program includes two weeks (80 hours) of Behind-The-Wheel training. This program is broken up into ten 4-hour blocks, 20 hours of structured study, and includes one road test.

 

Standard Program (intended for over-the-road drivers)

This program includes four weeks (160 hours) of Behind-The-Wheel training. This program is broken up into 8 hours of CLP preparation, twenty 4-hour blocks of training, 80 hours of structured study, and includes one road test. This course also includes the CLP, and the DOT medical card. You do not need your CLP for this program.
