CDL Training

Classic Driving School offers training starting at a minimum of 20 hours of training for a CDL A. All training is with a state licensed CDL trainer. At the end of every training session, the student will be informed of his/her strengths and weaknesses, and additional training may be scheduled if needed. The training is offered in four different vehicles for Class A and two different vehicles for Class B. The Class A vehicles available are a manual transmission day cab with a 24' flatbed trailer, a manual transmission day cab with a 48' van trailer, and an automatic transmission straight truck with a 24' flatbed trailer. All combination vehicles are rated over 26001 lbs. The Class B vehicle available is an automatic straight truck, as well as a manual transmission straight truck, both rated over 26001 lbs. All vehicles are equipped with air brakes. 

 *To use our rental trucks, you CANNOT have an air brake restriction!

 

**New Course**

Although, driving an RV does not require a CDL license, we do have an instructor that has been driving his own RV for years. He can teach you how to drive your new RV, as well as give you tips and pointers on setting up and maintenance. Please make sure you request the RV course when you call!

12hr Course: (CDL B only) 

12 hours of Behind-The-Wheel training. This course is broken up into three 4-hour blocks and includes the use of our equipment. 

Basic Program: (intended for those with little-no experience) 

One week (20hrs) of Behind-The-Wheel training. This course is broken up into five 4-hour blocks and includes the use of our equipment. Light duty (6-speed) transmission. 

Transitional Program: (intended for those with no experience) 

Two weeks (40hrs) of Behind-The-Wheel training. This course is broken up into ten 4-hour blocks and includes the use of our equipment. Light duty (6-speed)/or heavy duty (10-speed) transmission. 

Standard Program: (intended for over-the-road drivers) 

Four weeks (160hrs) of Behind-The-Wheel training. twenty 4-hour blocks, 80 hours of structured study, and includes one road test. The program also includes the DOT medical card. Heavy duty (10-speed) transmission. 

* All Programs meet the ELDT training requirements and include an online theory class.  

* All students must have a valid CLP, and Michigan driver’s license prior to scheduling their training program. 

* All students are required to pass a drug test. 

* All people with CLPs issued on or after 2/7/2022 must complete the new minimum training standard set forth by the FMCSA. Please fill out an application
